Fast growing, very hardy shrub with fruit that is considered nutrient packed, antioxidant superfood. Dense, green foliage and small, pale-yellow, frost resistant spring blooms. Long, dark-blue with a white blush fruit that has a sweet-tangy taste. Firm flesh is red when ripe. Great for fresh eating, jams, baking; often used for commercial production. Ripens mid-June. Usually bears fruit 1-2 years after planting. Also called Honeyberry and Blue Honeysuckle. Very low maintenance, non-suckering, pest and disease free plant that is easy to grow. Prefers moist, well-drained soil; drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Haskaps produce on one year wood so pruning back a few older branches each spring (about 10% of the plant), while the shrub is still dormant, will create new branches ensuring fruit production for future years.

•Haskaps need to be cross-pollinated and require two different cultivars planted close by to produce fruit. Indigo Gem Haskap is pollinated by one of the following: Aurora and Polar Jewel.

Available in select potted sizes.
