Several different varieties of Haskap planted in one pot for pollination. Haskaps, also called Honeyberry and Blue Honeysuckle, are very cold hardy, fast growing shrubs with fruit that is considered nutrient packed, antioxidant superfood. Dense, green foliage and small, pale-yellow spring blooms. Haskap fruit is medium to large in size with blue to dark blue, cylindrical fruit that has red flesh when ripe. Early ripening fruit, usually late Spring to early Summer. Usually bears fruit 1-2 years after planting. Very low maintenance, non-suckering, pest and disease free plant that is easy to grow. Prefers moist, well-drained soil; drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Haskaps produce on one year wood so pruning back a few older branches each spring (about 10% of the plant), while the shrub is still dormant, will create new branches ensuring fruit production for future years.
Haskaps need cross-pollination to set fruit but a pot with different varieties of Haskap in it doesn’t need more plants nearby for pollination.
Available in select potted sizes.
