Little Giant Cedar
Thuja occidentalis ‘Little Giant’
Evergreen: Upright Cedar
| Height: 3-4′ | Width: 3-4′ |
| Sun: Part to Full Shade | Zone: 3 |
Dwarf, compact, globe-shaped evergreen with dense and soft, bright green, scale-like foliage that holds its colour well all year round. Slow-growing variety that requires no pruning to maintain shape. Good as a foundation plant or low hedge for shady areas. In Southern Alberta Cedars require a spot with no exposure to drying northwest wind and southwest sun. Mulching around base will help retain moisture in summer. Heavy watering in fall a few weeks before freeze-up will prevent roots being damaged from cold, dry soil and minimize winter browning. Prefers moist to wet, fertile, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. No pruning required but can be sheared while new growth is actively growing in spring and before it has started to harden off.
Available in select potted sizes.
