Skybound Cedar
Thuja occidentalis ‘Skybound
Evergreen: Upright Cedar
| Height: 10-17′ | Width: 3-4′ |
| Sun: Part to Full Shade | Zone: 2 |
Columnar and narrow, dense evergreen with rich, dark green, whorled foliage. Low-maintenance and slow-growing. Similar to Brandon Cedar but with improved winter hardiness and some resistance to sun scald. Great tall vertical accent plant or used as a screen. In Southern Alberta Cedars require a spot with no exposure to drying northwest wind and southwest sun. Mulching around base will help retain moisture in summer. Heavy watering in fall a few weeks before freeze-up will prevent roots being damaged from cold, dry soil and minimize winter browning. Prefers moist to wet, fertile, well-drained soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning needed but responds well to shearing to maintain a more compact, full appearance and should be done while new growth is actively growing in spring and before it has started to harden off.
Available in select potted sizes.
