Dwarf Mugo Pine
Pinus mugo ‘Pumilio’
Evergreen: Pine
| Height: 4-5′ | Width: 5-7′ |
| Sun: Full Sun | Zone: 2 |
Dense, low-growing variety of Mugo Pine with mounding, dense habit. Short, rich green needles in bundles of 2 with purple-green cones that mature to brown. Slow-growing, very hardy variety that is resistant to winter burn. Shearing helps maintain a more compact shape. Great specimen plant, used in rock gardens, the border, and mass plantings. Prefers acidic, moist, well-drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. To maintain shape or control size, shear or pinch new growth (candles) when actively growing in late spring/early summer, this will also help to keep shrub more compact and dense. Dead or broken branches can be removed as needed.
Available in select potted sizes.
