A true dwarf evergreen with a very dense, compact, mounded shape. Short, dark green needles in bundles of 2 that sometimes take on a golden hue in winter; small cones. Slow-growing, low-maintenance shrub that requires no shearing to maintain shape. Excellent accent shrub, used in borders, mass plantings and rock gardens. Prefers acidic, moist, well-drained soil but is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Requires little to no pruning, shearing isn’t needed but can be done while actively growing in late spring, dead or broken branches can be removed as needed.
