Evergreen: Spruce

| Sun: Full Sun | Zone: 2 |
Tall, broad-pyramidal shaped evergreen with short, stiff needles in shades of green to blue. Tiered branches, rough grey bark and large cones with maturity. Very cold-hardy, dependable tree that is excellent for windbreaks and shelterbelts or as a large specimen. Prefers slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soil and is drought and wind tolerant once established (do not let stand in water). Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning needed: prune broken or dead branches as needed, heavy pruning should be done late winter/early spring before new growth emerges. Can be sheared for a more formal look or to create denser growth while tree is actively growing in early summer by trimming back the new growth by one-third.
Available in select potted and caliper sizes.
