Large, purple-blue berries that is sweet and juicy and excellent for eating fresh, pies, jams and freezing. Ripens in July. Suckering shrub; does great planted as a hedge or border. Also known as Juneberry or Serviceberry. Prefers moist, well-drained soil with best fruit production in full sun; drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or an all-purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Not much pruning is needed: thick, unproductive branches should be pruned in early spring before new growth emerges; suckers, or dead, broken, and diseased branches, can be removed anytime.

Self-pollinating but planting another variety close by will increase fruit yield.
