Mugo Pine

Pinus mugo ‘Mughus’

Evergreen: Pine

Height: 7-13′ Width: 7-10′
Sun: Full Sun Zone: 2

Large, upright, multi-stemmed evergreen shrub. Short, green needles in bundles of two with new, purple-green cones that mature to brown. Size depends on shearing. Slow-growing, very hardy evergreen that resists winter burn. Great border and background shrub and used in mass plantings. Prefers acidic, moist, well-drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. To maintain shape or control size, shear or pinch new growth (candles) when actively growing in late spring/early summer, this will also help to keep shrub more compact and dense. Dead or broken branches can be removed as needed.

Available in select potted sizes.
