Scotch/Scots Pine

Pinus sylvestris

Evergreen: Pine

Height: 45-50′ Width: 16-20′
Sun: Full Sun Zone: 3

Large, broadly pyramidal evergreen with short to medium length, twisted, blue-green needles in bundles of 2. Attractive, peeling, orange-red bark with age and small cones without prickles. Moderately fast-growing evergreen that gets a more rounded, open form with maturity. Hardy, adaptable tree that is great for windbreaks and shelterbelts and large landscapes. Adaptable to many soil types but does best when established in moist, well-drained soil; drought and chinook tolerant but does not do well in standing water. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning necessary; to encourage fuller growth, shear or pinch new growth (candles) when actively growing in late spring/early summer. Dead or broken branches can be removed as needed.

Available in select potted and caliper sizes.
