Fast growing, hardy tree with a rounded canopy. Silvery, narrow foliage and reddish-green twigs that mature to yellow-orange bark with age. Flowering catkins appear in spring. Good large shelterbelt tree for wet areas; aggressive root system, do not plant near buildings. Plant 12-15′ apart when used as a windbreak. Prune when needed in late winter/early spring, while dormant; suckers and dead branches can be removed anytime.
