Upright, oval, showy accent tree. Dense, feather-shaped, compound, green leaves turns a beautiful orange-red in fall. White, spring bloom clusters turn into bright orange, ornamental fall berries that persist into winter and attract birds. Shiny, grey bark. Attractive specimen tree for small yards. Mountain ash need fertile, well-drained soil, light sandy is preferred; do not plant in low-lying, wet areas or in compacted soil. Fertilize in spring with a good compost or all purpose fertilizer before new growth emerges. Little pruning needed, if necessary prune in late winter/early spring while tree is dormant, dead branches can be removed anytime.
